Train Show Prep in Full Swing

The meeting was called to order on August 6th at 1:15 by Betty Neill.

The minutes for July were presented. Bruce Koehler made a motion to accept seconded by Mike Cleveland. The motion passed and the minutes were accepted as read.

Betty submitted the Treasurer’s Report. 173 tables have been sold for the Train Show so far.

Old Business

Bill Lancaster and Ed Neill spoke with Belton Lions Club on July 27th about the Club.

Train Show – Betty passed out the tentative work schedule for the show. Please review and give Betty any changes that need to be made as soon as possible.

Mike Cleveland spoke about clinics for the show. He needs volunteers to sign up for a host of topics. Bob Alston and Bruce Baker will present “Planning a Layout”. Mike will post schedules throughout the Convention Center. Mike will also make a laptop available for PowerPoint presentations.

Train Show PR – Jerry Johnson will have the show advertised in Model Railroader magazine. Ed will contact the Temple Telegram newspaper.

Bill Lancaster says there is space for the club to set up at the Temple Mall the first weekend of September on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Betty made a motion that we set up at the mall. Bill seconded and the motion passed.

Ed recommended that each club member sell $30 worth of Train Show tickets. Mike Cleveland made a motion to that effect, Wiley Starnes seconded, and the motion passed.

Dan recommended that we again have the Christmas party at the Depot, and wants to reserve the Depot, either on December 9th (first choice) or December 2nd (alternate).  Betty made motion to not commit until the membership has had time to consider. Ed Underwood seconded and the motion passed.

New Business

Betty introduced a new member, Bob Cozby. Bob Alston will serve as mentor.

A cart for the TV was discussed and it was decided to be too expensive at this time. Members were asked to look for a good used cart.

The meeting adjourned at 3PM.
