HO Scale

Welcome the to the Centra-Mod HO Scale Page!

HO Scale is the most common in model railroading due to it’s convenient size and affordability. The HO scale ratio is 1:87.1, or 3.5mm per foot. In other words, one foot (12 inches) of HO scale track represents 87.1 feet of track in the real world. In model railroading, the “real world” is often referred to as “prototypical” or “the prototype”

The Centra-Mod HO group has two permanent layouts in the Moody Depot clubhouse. The first is the the Ft.Worth Temple and Gulf railroad, a freelanced railroad running through the plains of Texas from Ft.Worth to Houston. The Ft. Worth Temple and Gulf layout is the largest of the layouts housed at the Centra-Mod facility. The second is the Historic Temple layout, modeling Temple, Texas circa 1932. Members have scratchbuilt many of the signature buildings found in Temple at that time, including the Temple Santa Fe depot and the Harvey House.

Centra-Mod is open to the public during Open House hours, 1-5PM on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month.  All the layouts are operational during Open House and members are on hand to answer questions. You can find more information about the layouts by looking at the HO Scale menu above.
