Ft. Worth Temple and Gulf Layout

The Fort Worth, Temple and Gulf Railroad is a proto-freelanced railroad running in the 1990’s from Fort Worth, Texas through Temple, Texas to Houston, Texas. It interchanges with the ATSF MKT and Union Pacific Motive power is a mix of first- and second-generation Electro Motive Division , GP35, GP38-2, SD40-2, SDP45s.

The Ft. Worth Temple and Gulf layout is nearing completion of a years-long project to convert to double mainline. All track is installed and powered and now the revised signal system is being installed. See below for some images of the layout.

The HO Scale layouts use Digitrax DCC for control. The Historic layout has a loop that is switchable to DC to operate non-decoder equipped locomotives. Signaling is handled by JMRI (jmri.org) using C/MRI equipment. There are club-owned throttles available for use. Members are welcome to bring their own Digitrax throttles to use. Many members use their phones for control. JMRI provides an interface to smart phone apps “WiThrottle” for Apple devices and “Engine Driver” for Android devices.
